Imagine you're lost in a massive desert, hundreds of miles from civilisation, driving a car your granny would be embarrassed by. Then all of a sudden all your wheels fall off and the search for tools turns up a dirty sock and two dried apricots. That's the Mongol Rally - over 16,000 km of pure adventure over mountains, deserts and some of the most remote terrain on the planet from UK to Mongolia.
of the most unsuitable vehicles in the world will be making it to the
kickoff of the Mongol Rally today, but will our car
called 'Smee' (Captain Hooks Sidekick) make it the whole way?
Representing Team Grown this year are the 'scallywags' made up of
Belinda Nichols of New Zealand, Tom Archer and James Clarke from the UK.
in Goodwood, UK, team GROWN will drive through 18 countries and finally
end up in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia on Aug 24th and at the heart of the
adventure is a good cause. The official Mongol Rally charity is the
Lotus Children's Centre Charitable Trust. They work with vulnerable
children and families to provide the basic human rights of shelter, food
and education. 'Smee' will be also be auctioned off at the end of the
rally to help support the centre further. If you want to make a
